Thanks, and a Personal Request

For those whom I haven't already acknowledged, let me offer thanks, however belatedly, for your support at the time of my father's recent passing.

And for those of you who offered help: don't be alarmed, but I'm going to take you up on it.

Memory Walk bannerThe Alzheimer's Association Space Coast Memory Walk® will be taking place at Erna Nixon Park in Melbourne, Florida, on Saturday, March 21. Several Nationals wives and fiancees -- Ashley Sterling, fiancee of Nats pitcher Collin Balester, among them -- have pledged to walk and raise funds to help find a cure for Alzheimer's, which crippled my Dad during the final years of his life.

To those who've offered me help, my request is a simple one: please help Ashley and Bally to tackle this insidious killer. Thanks.

Mike Henderson is a medical informatics consultant based in Silver Spring, Maryland. He grew up in Wheeling, West Virginia, rooting for the great Pirates teams of the 1970s that he's really never got over. (And he still misses Pirates announcer Bob Prince.)

Upon moving to the DC area in 1984, he duly began rooting for the Orioles but found it was never quite the same. Especially after the 1994 strike and the Angelos teardown.

Mike's inner fanboy came back to life the minute the Nats hit RFK in 2005. He shares his random observations with the discerning readers of Nationals Pride and eagerly awaits the day when he'll be complaining about having to pay entirely too much for playoff tickets at Nats Park.
