Time to bring Bergmann back?

Before I do my analysis, here's the info from the weekly Nats Minor League Report, courtesy of Nats PR guy Bill Gluvna:

"THE MASK OF JASON: RHP Jason Bergmann has offered scoreless relief in 8 of 9 appearances, going 1-0 with one save and a 1.46 ERA…the 27-year-old began the season with Syracuse before he was recalled to the big leagues on April 20…he made 3 appearances with Washington, but was optioned back to Syracuse on April 29 when the Nationals acquired RHP Logan Kensing from Florida…since being optioned, he is 1-0 and has worked 6.1 scoreless innings (5 games)."

I know I'm just echoing Hendo with this request, but it's certainly time to give Bergmann a shot in this bullpen, unless the team knows something HUGE that we just don't.  As Emilie points out - we need a closer badly, and lack one.

I'm not saying Bergmann can be that guy, but he can certainly be an effective bridge to Beimel - or definitely more effective than Logan Kensing, who looks like he needs time down on the farm to straighten himself out.

I'm not sure if it's something left over from Bowden, or if Bergmann somehow angered Rizzo, Kasten, or the Lerners, but in his time in DC Bergmann has been up and down more than anyone I can count.  He was a starter, then a reliever, then a spot starter, now a reliever again - he was up, then he was down, then up, then down, then hurt, then up, now down.

It's enough to make even Screech Guy talk to himself.

All I know is that his current performance in Syracuse (AAA) has showed that he deserves the chance to knock out some of the poor performers we currently have in the bullpen.
